Octathlon


The RAVSTASS Octathlon is a monthly competition across eight (8) sports of your choice, completed in your own time. 
Divisional Formulas 
River: Distance 
AirDistance + Altitude 
Valley: Distance + (Elevation x 7.92
Sea: Distance x Depth 
TrackDistance + (Elevation x 7.92
Aim: Distance x % (Shots Made ÷ Total Shots) 
GolfDistance x % (Par ÷ Total Strokes) 
Snow: Distance - Drop 
Stadium: Distance x % (Wins ÷ Games Played)
 
Scoring rewards Octathletes who maximise the opportunity to score a sport result in each of the eight (8) Divisions. Principally distance is the common denominator, with calibration for elevation/drop, and penalty for accuracy/win/loss. RAVSTASS Octathlete Award (ROA) recipients will be recognised on the Honour Board
 
RAVSTASS Octathlon Rules: 
1. Maximum of eight (8) sports can be counted. 
2. Maximum of one (1) sport from each of the eight (8) RAVSTASS Divisions will be counted. 
3. Selected sport must utilise human power and/or gravity/wind. No motor/animal power. 
4. Best one (1) day result for each sport is counted.
5. When multiple days are recorded for sport(s) within a Division, the best result will be counted. 
6. All distances (horizontal/vertical/depth) are metric. Altitude for Air Sports is reported in feet (our database will do the conversion). 
7. Scoring resets at the end of the calendar month. 
 
Rule Scenarios: 
1. If completed nine (9) or more sports during the calendar month, the results of eight (8) sports only is counted. 
2. If completed two (2) or more sports from a Division, the best result from one (1) sport in that Division is counted. 
3. If a sport is repeated within the calendar month, the results from the single best day is counted. 
4. If sports are logged from two (2) or more Divisions in a single day, the results can all count (if does not contravene any of the above Rules). What this means is you can complete all eight (8) sports in a single day if you wish. 
5. Our database will calculate all these scenarios automatically, just start logging!!!!
