Teams

Start a Team

RAVSTASS is an Incorporated Multi-Sport Association. We provide the opportunity for independent teams to become the RAVSTASS Ravens. RAVSTASS has a unique structure of eight divisions, which enables any sport to be administered under our shared services umbrella.

Whether you are running a local team or meet-up, we help by taking the hassle out of the admin. We consolidate the information your sport needs, to a single collection. You get clear leadership with defined roles for everyone from captains to players. If you need to collect funds, our website has a payment portal. Funds are discretely treasurer-managed, providing monthly reports, and solid governance. We also track your Achievements and Awards via our Honour Board. Our gear is managed in-house with custom merch and uniform design. We even handle social media cross-promotion to help get your team the spotlight it deserves!

We would like to give you a helping hand, because it is motivated individuals like you who bring people together, creating opportunities and most importantly, foster teamwork which is the foundation of all strong communities.

Team Duties
Players ▼

PLAYERS and all Team Members are to:

  1. Code of Conduct. Aspire to the RAVSTASS Values and the Code of Conducts(s) applicable to the relevant sport(s).
  2. Rules. Abide by the RAVSTASS Rules of Association.
  3. Goals. Support the Team Goals through incremental individuals Goals.
  4. Directions. Follow the directions of Manager, Trainer, Captain and Coach. Receive feedback with desire to understand and improve.
  5. Report. Raise concerns (including injuries) through Coach, Captain, Manager, Trainer, and complete a RAVSTASS Incident Report. If appropriate, further reporting may be required through the league/competition.
  6. Disputes. Resolve any disputes in accordance with the RAVSTASS Rules of Association, as well as Codes of Conduct for relevant league/competition. Unresolved issues should be brought to the attention of the Division Director.
  7. Messaging. The primary communication channel for all teams is via a dedicated Team thread on Facebook Messenger. This channel is used since it allows text/file uploads/voice/video calls and is almost universally adopted, as well as enabling convenient use from Desktop (full keyboard) or Mobile Device. Team Managers utilise primarily for sending training/game reminders. Prompt confirmation of your attendance is needed to minimise costs incurred and avoiding forfeits, as well as early planning of player rotations.
  8. Alternate Communication. If a player does not have Facebook Messenger, then the responsibility for knowing schedule timings is the responsibility of the player. Players are to confirm their attendance/non-attendance NLT 48 hrs prior to the Team Manager via SMS (or as otherwise requested by Team Manager). Prompt confirmation of your attendance is needed in order to make alternate arrangements and avoid incurring a forfeit (and especially even higher costs incurred through late forfeit notification).
  9. Avoiding Forfeits. It in order to keep future registration costs cheap for all, it is crucial that forfeit fines are avoided. Preserving funds also enables this money to benefit your team. If a forfeit looms, Team Managers may (if appropriate) ask injured players to show up in uniform in order to avoid a penalty and be subbed out immediately. The golden rule: always bring your uniform.
  10. RAVSTASS Fee Policy. Participating in sport usually requires registration fees to be paid by the athlete to the competition organiser directly, prior to commencing season in order to be insured. RAVSTASS also incurs some further costs, however we are able to provide some flexibility, within the following limits:
  • Due date. RAVSTASS Fees are due before middle of current season.
  • Limitations. If Fees remain unpaid, the player may be refused opportunity to play, including finals.
  • Exclusion. If Fees remain owing, the player will not be re-registered for following season(s), until rectified.
  • Exchange. If the player is unable to repay RAVSTASS Fees, they may trade their uniform (if owned and in good condition) to the RAVSTASS Treasurer to have their fees debt cleared.
  • Technical Difficulties. If you have any difficulty paying the invoice via the online email, then please forward payment via direct deposit to:

TEAM MANAGERS are to:

  1. Lead. Exemplify the RAVSTASS Values and Grow as a Leader.
  2. Assist. Assist with Player Registrations.
  3. Uniforms. Issue Loan Uniforms, with the expectation that the player promptly orders their own uniform. Collect all Loan Uniforms at conclusion of each season (this again encourages players to purchase a uniform). Note that the Treasurer will conduct an audit at least annually and seek update from Team Managers.
  4. Administrators. Communicate with competition administrators.
  5. Scheduling. Advise team members of game times and training schedules.
  6. Nominations. Co-ordinate Team Nominations prior to each season:
  • International teams = RAVSTASS Aussie Ravens
  • Domestic Team Names = RAVSTASS Ravens
  • Junior optional variation = RAVSTASS Little Ravens or Junior Ravens
  • Senior optional variation = RAVSTASS Masters Ravens or Senior Ravens
  • Multiple teams in the same grade = RAVSTASS Black Ravens > RAVSTASS Blue Ravens

Forfeits:

  • Avoiding Forfeits. If insufficient players indicates a forfeit may be imminent then team manager is to attempt to source fill-in players. Remind any injured players that should they be able to attend in uniform, this can avoid a forfeit and they can be immediately substituted out of the game.
  • Forfeit Decision. If a forfeit cannot be avoided, the Team Manager is to send an email to the Association organising the competition (cc: treasurer@ravstass.com); formally advising of forfeit (Note that late notification may increase the forfeit fine).
  • Post Forfeit Admin. The RAVSTASS Treasuer should receive the forfeit fine from the administrators of the competition. The Forfeit fine will be promptly paid by the Treasurer, to maintain the good standing of our Association. RAVSTASS Treasurer will internally invoice the Team Manager, the forfeit fine amount. Please note that the Team Manager is not personally liable for the invoice. The invoice is addressed to the Team Manager only as point of contact, in order to facilitate payment collection from the players. Team Manager will seek share of payment from all players. There is no precise science for this, some teams share equally, while others apportion to those players who were responsible for the forfeit, depending on the circumstances. Team Manager is then able to pay the internal RAVSTASS invoice.
  • Unpaid Forfeit Fines. Internal invoices must be paid before another forfeit fine is incurred. If a team forfeits a further game, while an internal invoice remains unpaid, then the team will be immediately withdrawn, to prevent further forfeit fines.

    Trainers▼

    TEAM TRAINERS are to:

    1. Lead. Exemplify the RAVSTASS Values and Grow as a Leader.
    2. Prepare. Ensure players are warmed up and stretched prior to activity and encourage individuals to be responsible for their own Individual training.
    3. Ensure Safety. Observe activities undertaken in accordance with the RAVSTASS Risk Matrix and any relevant risk management established by the league/competition/facility/government. Monitor team dynamics and psychological safety (Including Learner Safety, Inclusion Safety, Contributor Safety & Challenger Safety).
    4. First Aid. Provide First Aid and/or Sports Trainer assistance to the level of their training, and IAW Child Safety policy.
    5. Report. Submit Incident Reports to record the event and actions taken.
    6. Fix. Communicate with Sports Facilities Staff to address any safety concerns and/or risks.

Usually the sports association administering the competition will pay referees directly, if this is the case, no further action is required. However, other sports associations, may forward referee payments to the RAVSTASS Association, where we will distribute. If this is the case, then please provide your details below, and when funds are received, we will forward your referee payment:
